The Energetic Heart of the Home: The SETA System and the New Frontier of Residential Autonomy
SETA makes the home self-sufficient: smart energy, comfort, and savings in an integrated and sustainable system. In a construction landscape increasingly focused on sustainability, efficiency, and energy independence, there are solutions that go beyond simply incorporating innovation—they become its beating heart. In this residential project—a 220-square-meter passive house newly built in Northern Italy—the true protagonist is SETA, the intelligent storage battery that has enabled a new way of living with energy.
With a high-performance geothermal system, controlled mechanical ventilation, an 8 kW photovoltaic system, and an advanced plant configuration, the added value lies precisely in the choice of SETA, which has transformed the home into a model of efficiency, autonomy, and smart energy management.
SETA: the intelligence of energy at the heart of the home
At first glance, it’s “just” a battery, but SETA is much more than that. In this residential context, SETA plays a strategic role: it manages, optimizes, and enhances the value of the energy produced, ensuring the home’s self-sufficiency during critical times, improving the overall performance of the system, and providing real energy peace of mind.
Thanks to its ability to store up to 9.6 kW of electricity generated by the photovoltaic system, SETA allows homeowners to use their self-produced energy even during the evening and night hours or when solar irradiation is low. But that’s not all: SETA intelligently responds to peak demand, balancing the load and supporting the heat pump, mechanical ventilation, and the entire home automation system.
Total integration, real impact
SETA’s real strength lies in its seamless integration with the rest of the system components—from the heat pump to the CloudBox for remote management, to the room-by-room ventilation and temperature control systems. In this home, SETA works in synergy with a 9 kW geothermal heat pump, powered by two 120-meter-deep probes, and supports both a 500-liter domestic hot water tank and a 200-liter buffer tank.
The result? A zero-waste system, capable of dynamically adapting to the home’s actual energy needs. SETA delivers energy exactly when needed and ensures efficient distribution, thanks to the support of the integrated BTicino home automation system.
A paradigm shift: from consumer to prosumer
With the introduction of SETA, the home stopped being a mere point of consumption and became a true domestic energy hub—able to produce, store, and use energy intelligently. The system has transformed the homeowners from passive users into conscious prosumers, capable of autonomously managing their own energy resources.
Previously, the family lived in a 115-square-meter semi-detached house powered by a gas boiler and air conditioning splits, with an annual energy expense of over €2,500. Today, thanks to SETA and the integrated GSI system, their total energy costs have dropped to less than €900 per year—all-inclusive. An extraordinary result, made possible by photovoltaic production, intelligent storage, and optimized energy management.
SETA also enables transparent and intuitive energy management: through an app, the homeowners can monitor photovoltaic production, battery charge status, and household consumption in real time—optimizing energy use according to their lifestyle.
Comfort and control as the framework of the SETA system
Surrounding the energetic heart represented by SETA is a coherent and efficient system: ceiling-based heating and cooling, active dehumidification, mechanical ventilation on each floor, and room-by-room temperature control. All of this is managed by CloudBox, the intelligent platform developed by GSI for the integrated management of the entire system.
Each room is equipped with a dedicated thermo-hygrostat, while the home automation system communicates in real time with SETA, balancing comfort and energy consumption.
A long-term investment with a future-forward vision
The integration of SETA into such an advanced system not only ensures a dramatic reduction in energy costs and high levels of comfort, but also represents a forward-thinking environmental and economic choice. Thanks to the potential for future expansion with solar thermal collectors or additional storage modules, the home is fully prepared to adapt to evolving regulations and climate conditions in the years to come.
Conclusion: SETA, the intelligent core of energy independence
This project demonstrates that the future of living lies in intelligent energy. SETA is not just a battery—it is an advanced system for management, storage, and autonomy, capable of radically transforming the way we live, produce, and consume energy within our homes.
In a time when energy savings are a top priority, SETA becomes the key element in transforming a house into a model of sustainable excellence. GSI, through its vision and technical expertise, has made this evolution possible. And the experience lived in this home clearly proves it: energy autonomy is no longer a possibility, it is a tangible reality—and it all begins with SETA.
